sew scrappy update

I'm making Jen Kingwell's "Broken Dishes" quilt at present.

The blocks do go together very easily.  The key is to remember to always have the b & w triangle on top when sewing up the pairs & to always sew the seam on the same side!!  And once you have made a few, the star & circular patterns come out really effectively!  It seems I have a predominance of blues in my stash, and not much variety of low volume black & whites. For a couple of my darker b & w I did find using the "wrong" side worked ok!   But still haven't got much of an assortment here.  In the interests of dieting - fabric diet that is - I'm thinking maybe a scrappy fabric swap might be the way to go?!?

Linking up with WIP Wednesday later on.

A scrappy swap sounds like a good idea - I do a dew through flickr, but perhaps a NZ based one would be good:)

I would happily do you a swap to get more variety into my circle game blocks. I don't have any low volume though. What size pieces do you need?

I have a bit of low volume I could donate to the cause, although how much depends a bit on the size you need. It's looking pretty though!

Thanx....I really only need small pieces (a 6 1/2"square will give me 1 triangle). Maybe we could sort out something for a srappy swap at our next MM meeting? Linda

Wow, three kiwis have posted in a row on Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday! That must be a first - we are taking over. I love what you are making.

They look great. Gratulations! But sorry, for a swap I am too far away :(
Did you have any problems with the mass of selvages in the middle?

Very nice! I have a "lavender, blue, and green" scrappy quilt like it on my bed right now -- one of my favorites!

That is going to be a beautiful quilt! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you! It all seemed to slot in together very tidily, and I think it helps having blunt points on the triangle tips, which eliminates "ears" ! L
