handmade- at the beach

Some of my quilts have ended up down at the beach over the years. Apart from my most recent "trip around the world" quilt, all the other quilts were made way, way back, so they are "really old"! I grabbed a sunny day during the week and hung them all out on the washing line to air for a few hours...

... and then I looked around & started clicking...

... all ready for a picnic in the shade

There are other little bits of handmade evidence
made by family scattered around the bach here at Waihi too, like ...

Mr D's mum's pottery

and cross stitch sun umbrella & seahorse made by my mum

It's so nice having my quilts down here too at the bach
the old ...

                                                                                 or the new...

... they all get used!

Happy Holidays!

I always love to see quilts getting used - that is the reason I make them - although for some "used" is hanging on the wall for people to see - we are using our eyes then!

The perfect way to teach your family to love quilts - having them out and in use daily. Especially nice with your other handmades. Thanks for sharing so many.

I can see that your style has changed over time too Linda! Great photo shoot - what beach are you at, it looks so lovely!

Thank you Megan! A couple of those quilts were from my early sewing days, combining batiks & island florals from Raro, trying to get that “beach-y” feel! My sister & I own a bach at Waihi Beach,we share week about, and it's just lovely to be able to escape from the city now & then!

That photo of the quilt on the blue gate, looks like a very Kaffe type shot. Lots of lovely quilts.

These look lovely Linda, I especially like the pic of the blue one over the neighbours gate and I really like the red quilt on the lounge couch.
