Scrappy Log Cabin quilt

I’m super happy with the contrast of the multi-coloured prints vs the plains
This square layout makes four nice lightly framed prints-on-point squares
Quilted in an E2E 'ikat' pattern
Backing: leftover wide backing floral, "optimistic" by AMH.
Binding: I'm using a red tone-on-tone fabric
that I thought would tie in nicely with my red centre squares

Courthouse Steps quilt
finished September 2022
I've been super keen to have a go at spicing up this block, the classic courthouse steps
I used a bundle of RSS fabrics, 'stay gold' by Melody Miller,
and combined a little mix of solids to give all the pretty prints room to breathe.
Lots of colour blocking & fabric play happening with this quilt.
Quilted in an E2E pretty star pattern called 'compass rose' for the ultimate texture
and wool/polyester batting for that soft, cuddly drape
Backing: Shell Cotton Sateen Ruby Star Society
Binding: a black & white stripe which I think works nicely with the B&W spot in the center squares
Finished quilt measures 55" x 55"
Daylesford quilt
finished May 2022
Another 'finish' is my Daylesford quilt. It was like following a fun wandering path as I went around and around making the largest log cabin I’ve ever made! I used a mix of fabrics - all from my stash - in mellow colours of peachy/pinks blues & browns with "pops" of mustard, including Outback Wife fabrics, Karen Lewis and a little bit of Liberty. I chose Tula Pink's 'wonder' wide backing, so silky and so soft. I had Leeanne from quiltmekiwi machine quilt this for me. I chose an e2e quilting design called 'ikat' - such great texture. For the binding I went with a sweet itty bitty print, AGF Mayfair in Promenade Plum. Finished size approx. 60" x 60"
For my backing I chose a wide quilt back, Ruby Star 'shell' cotton sateen, super soft & silky! And I had it quilted by Leeanne from quiltmekiwi in an edge-to-edge pattern called 'ripples', creating gentle texture while still showing off the quilt design.
The binding was a tad difficult to chose, but I ended up with an Alison Glass tone-on-tone blues. Blue seems to go with most things I sew, and with this quilt I felt it reflected the teal in my centre squares nicely and highlighted the blues in the backing fabric. My finished quilt measures approx. 70" x 58".
It was easy enough to make... the larger blocks and the random placing of fabric combinations not only shows off the fabric, but gives the quilt a modern feel. I really love this quilt, no idea why I left it so long to get it finished! Each of the Broken Dishes blocks ended up 9″x 9″ and I made 21 of them. Then I added 4 more 9″x 9″ “blocks” that were just solid pieces of the gorgeous Outback Wife fabric, to add some variety to the quilt. And finally, I added a wide border of leftover floral barkcloth fabrics. Finished size: 53" x 53".
Crossroads quilt
Finished May 2022
Gifted
The ‘Crossroads’ quilt, {pattern from Treehouse Textiles} is a delightfully scrappy quilt, with a real vintage vibe. I've included some of my favourite fabrics from several years of stash building! For my backing I chose a wide quilt back, Ruby Star 'shell' cotton sateen, super soft & silky! And I had it quilted by Leeanne from quiltmekiwi in an edge-to-edge pattern called 'ripples', creating gentle texture while still showing off the quilt design.

Bear Paw quilt
Finished May 2022
I made 14.5” Bear Paw blocks set with 2.5” sashing strips & a wider border in several off white/greys.
{The Fat Quarter Shop has a free pattern for the Bear Paw block}.
For backing, I used the sweetest backing fabric 'head in the clouds' by Windham
and my binding was a scrappy selection of leftover 'posy' fabrics.
I had it quilted by Leeanne from quiltmekiwi, in an edge to edge Baptist Fan.
Finished quilt measures 56" x 56".
Broken Dishes quilt
Finished April 2022
Another quilt crossed off my list of projects to finish. This 'broken dishes' quilt was started way back in March 2017, inspired by a post I spotted from Simple Simon and Company. I used a selection of Outback Wife fabrics along with some Karen Lewis fabrics and a few ginghams. Maggie Pearl quilt
March 2022
A quick & easy project that sure packs a scrappy punch!
I started out using Liberty lawn fabrics
then added in a few fabrics from The Deco Dance Collection, Liberty by Riley Blake Designs,
and some Karen Lewis tone-on-tones to balance things out.
Machine quilted by me in a zig zag design - it was a little tedious but so so worth it!
Backing: I stitched together a bundle of FQ into a big 9-patch, a successful use of boring fabrics!
Binding: three toned blue stripe, Onofrio in Shirt by Giucy Giuce
Finished quilt top measures: 40" x 56"
Donated to Hospice

Scrappy Log Cabin quilt
Scraps quilts are my favourite and the fabrics in this were all from my stash. I finished piecing the top back in June 2021 and eventually had it machine quilted by my friend Leeanne from quiltmekiwi in October 2021. Finally finished the binding January 2022. Finished quilt measures 68" x 89" - I haven't made a quilt quite this big for a while! Gifted
