Spending an afternoon with Aunty is always a lovely time
At almost 91yrs she decided to do a spot of decluttering
She had put aside a few things for me
It was like rummaging through a treasure box and I came home with some lovelies. . .
She had put aside a few things for me
It was like rummaging through a treasure box and I came home with some lovelies. . .
. . . some embroidered handkerchiefs that will be perfect for my 'doily' WiP
. . . a pretty vintage handkerchief
. . . and just a few teaspoons
Aunty has hundreds of these spoons, all in wooden display boxes, all around her little house
Very difficult to chose from
In the end I selected animals, the royals . . .
and any that made us laugh
like this 'dieters' spoon & a Kelly Tarltons spoon . . .
Have a great week

You truly did come home with some lovelies! The fabrics are delightful, I think the bright blue is wonderful! I shall be watching to see when these appear in your quilting.
ReplyDeleteThose pieces are wonderful AND they're full of good memories.
ReplyDeletesounds like you scored good with Aunty! it is always fun to visit our elderly relatives and listen to their stories and sometimes bring home some fun stuff when they want to clean out!
ReplyDeleteAunty gave you true treasures! Those spoons are especially fascinating!
ReplyDeleteSuch great treasures! I recently received some hankies from my grandma. Can't wait to see how you use yours. May give me a little inspiration for mine.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a lovely way to spend some time, and it will be fun watching for these special pieces to appear in your quilting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful day. We had a small collection of those spoons, too, including the dieter's spoon. What memories choosing a spoon for dessert as kids. How kind of you aunt to gift you with these mementos.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely afternoon!
DeleteAll the more special because Aunty is the only one left now who can answer any questions my sister & I may have.
And the spoons... well, I'm so glad to have just a few, they will always remind me of her!
What a delightful visit! And such special treasures you've been given too.
