Working on some more of my whimsy blocks today
Loving this pattern by @judynewman,
and am having lots of fun machine piecing these little floral beauties

There is a cheeky little inset seam,
but I'm finding that if I make up a few blocks at a time things seem to go smoothly.
I'm teaming up a scrappy selection of large scale florals from my stash
with a sweet crosscheck and a bright red & white stripe.

wow, that is looking really effective, that pale centre block and the stripes really make you look at each block. I've been at work all day, so no sewing from me, it's wine and blog time mow.
ReplyDeleteLooking good! The stripey fabric is a great addition.
ReplyDeleteLove the new additions Linda, your picks of the centre fabrics are perfect and the stripe fabric is working so well.
ReplyDeleteTHese are adorable. It's going to be such a cute looking quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat great effect from the stripes. Nice fabric mix, Linda.
ReplyDeleteI love these blocks--Cheeky little insert is right, enough to deter/discourage me. They are so pretty and the fabrics are perfect or the block.
ReplyDeleteLove the bold stripes in these. Such fun to watch you make these.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty blocks.
ReplyDeleteOoh, they're looking good! Love how that stripe is going to make another pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love the way your blocks create a circular effect! Each block adds something new to the mix!
ReplyDeleteOn your way to another awesome quilt. That block looks like it is a bit of a challenge. But the finished block is sure worth it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cynthia. It is a pretty block, with that 2dary circular pattern happening.
DeleteBut making 3-in-a-row was enough just now. I’ve chosen fabrics and cut them out for the next three blocks. Already & waiting for sewing up sometime later in the week.
I have to admit that I avoid inset seams like they are the devil - so good on you for not only having a go - but ending up with some very nice blocks. Bonus! And those striped corners, Very Clever!
ReplyDeleteOw Linda I love those blocks. They looked fabulous all together and boy they certainly look difficult.
ReplyDeleteLove those whimsey blocks and the red and white stripe works magic!
ReplyDeleteCan I come and steal those delicious large scale florals from your stash, please!
ReplyDeleteLove the visual effect you get with that red stripe at the corners. It's going to be a very fun quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe stripes fabric was a great choice for the corners. The blocks look lovely together!
