Well hello!
Thank you all for linking up to 'Sew, Stitch, Snap, SHARE' over the past few months,
- it's been great to see such a variety of projects.
Things around here have got slightly diverted off course this week, are you not surprised? I started out with the best intentions, we are moving and my mission was decluttering & destashing. But it's always a risky activity when I start sorting scraps. Have a peep at what happened . . .
I love mixing florals with stripes
and plaids
Totally inspired by Lee Ann from niftyquilts, I have wanted to make a version of her 'tennessee lightening' quilt for ages now (see here), and have just been waiting for a bold floral to set the blocks with.
Her pattern uses the simple way of making two HST units at the same time. First, cut your squares and match two right-sides-together. Draw a diagonal line down the back of one side. Sew a 1/4″ seam on both sides of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line. (There's also a great tutorial here by Amy from DiaryofaQuilter, if you are not too sure what I mean)
More soon.
Time now for another fortnightly 'Sew, Stitch, Snap, SHARE' linkup
My pick from last time was the WiP Nicolette from dutchcomfort is working on,
her all-solids version of 'down a rabbit hole' . . .
She also has a few other great projects on the go too, like her Delilah blocks.
I love her mix of fabrics and quirky selection of low voloume backgrounds, look at #3 . . .
- pop on over here to see lots more & be inspired!
And what are you working on right now?
Just follow these simple guidelines:
1. Link up from any post from the past week that features something you have been sewing or stitching. You can write as much or as little about your project as you like, or simply let your photos do the talking.
2. Somewhere in your post, please link back to this post.
3. Please comment on a couple of the other Sew, Stitch, Snap, SHARE links - its fun to receive comments from new people, and we are trying to encourage people to read blogs and to keep blogging. Hope you find some new inspiration too!
Whatever you're sewing or stitching, you can link it up here.

Thanks for joining us, Julie & Linda
love those Delilah blocks
ReplyDeleteAh yes. The trouble of sorting scraps without wanting to sew some of them together... Love what you've done with them.
ReplyDeleteI love how easily you get distracted, of course sewing is much more fun than packing and decluttering. These look fabulous as does the quilt which was your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteR-I-S-K-Y alright! 12 sew stitch snap and share time is whizzing by!
ReplyDeleteLee Ann makes some gorgeous quilts. Love your version, too. Good luck with the move. We've done that a few times and I look at it as a way to consider which projects add to my happiness.
ReplyDeleteThat Spare parts quilt by Lee Ann is amazing! I’m sure yours will be equally awesome! Good luck with the move and thank you for the linkup to my blog and your lovely words about my quilt-making. I love the word quirky!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking your new project, it's always exciting to begin a new project, especially so when you're working through fabric sorting and you have an "aha" moment. and begin pulling fabrics!

ReplyDeleteSorry, deleted last comment - full of predicted text nonsense. So I'll try again. Good luck with the forthcoming house move. Are you moving far? Impressed that you are finding time to sew! Enjoy packing!
ReplyDeleteYour lightening blocks look great! Sorting scraps can be a trap.
ReplyDeletelovely happy post
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI wanted to add some bright happy colour to the week. Here in NZ, we are thinking of all those who are suffering from the devastation in various parts of the USA.
Every time I sort my scraps, I end up starting a quilt. I wish you the best on your upcoming move!
ReplyDeleteLove your version of Tennessee Lighting!
ReplyDeleteI'm not only diverted, but I'm about ready to ditch a couple lists and completely start over! lol Love the Tennessee Lightning project! LeeAnn has the best inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour "Lightning" quilt is beautiful! I wish I had thought of using my Outback Wife fabrics this way. You're very sweet to give me the credit. But I basically copied an old quilt in Scott Hefley's book, "Bold Inspiration." The original maker is the brilliant one. Now I think I'll have to make another someday. Thank you for the inspiration! Best wishes with your move.
ReplyDeleteThanks LeeAnn.
DeleteI found your pattern in a copy of SIMPLY Moderne recently! It didn’t have any mention of your inspiration, so thank you for the additional information.
Wish I had more time to sew just now, but I’m managing a bit now & then in-between sorting & packing up (keeps the stress levels down!).
Happy sewing, Linda.
Oops! The book is called "Bold Impressions, Searching for African American Quilts" by Scott Heffley.
ReplyDeleteThankfully I have no intentions of moving... my stash can stay exactly where it is! Looks like you move it and it wants to turn into a whole heap of projects!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the colorful projects and ideas, Linda.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your move.
Your 'lightening' quilt is going to be beautiful.
