finishing things

So tempted to start something new but it's getting so close to the end of the year
- time to finish up a few things first.

A few quilt details:
"Floribunda" quilt
Made from a mish-mash of stash fabrics
Simple shapes, random colour surprises
and I had lots of fun playing with the value placements in each block.
See here, here and here for earlier posts about my inspiration & progress photos
I used Amy from diaryofaquilter size chart for cutting these 'sawtooth star' blocks
{you can find it here}
Binding is 'violet static diamond' by Victoria Findlay Wolfe, see here
Finished quilt measures 165cms x 140cms
Lightly machine quilted all over by Leeanne from quiltmekiwi

Has that 'end of year' feeling hit you yet?
Do you feel the pressure to finish a project or two, or is it just me?
Linking up with Myra for 'finished or not friday' here at busyhandsquilts
and with Cynthia for 'oh scrap' here

  1. a great stash project I love how it turned out! My favorite quilts seem to made from a great number of stash fabrics - I rarely even buy yardage anymore but keep working from small pieces (and of course they never all get used up)

  3. LOVE your binding choice! It's perfect for the framing the quilt and bringing out the deeper shades in the blocks. End of year feeling here too........

  7. Such a scrumptious quilt. The inner border is so simple and effective. All it took was your courage to use it. I love how it blends with some of the colors and pops others up a couple of notches. Congratulations.

  8. I adore this quilt for ever so many reasons - the fabrics, the mish-mash-y-ness of it, and the feel of the colors. WONDERFUL finish! And yes, I am working to find closure on some projects of my own. AND planning for decorating the house with a special toddler in mind.

    1. Thanks Audrey.
It’s fun to see modern fabrics used up close with the classic old quilt blocks – I’m always pleasantly surprised, it does work!

  33. What a wonderful quilt! And thanks for the idea of a border. I have a quilt that I have not been able to visualize a border for and the minute I saw yours, I knew what it needed.
