a new spin on tradition


























Quilt stats:
'Star Crossed' quilt
pattern from the book "utility style quilts for everyday living" by Sharon Holland
I used a fabric stack of a recently released fabric collection as my starting point
- lovestoryfabrics by Maureen Cracknell
I then added in a DS plaid, a few quirky vintage prints and a couple of blending peachy solids
. . . the surprising colour and fabric combos put a new spin on this traditional block
 don't you think?
Beautifully custom quilted by Leeanne Hopper @ quiltmekiwi using cotton batting
Finished quilt measures 62" x 88"

    It’s beautiful! You’re always so fast and so is your long arm quilter! Our long arm quilters have waiting lists of 3 to 5 months!

    A beautiful quilt. Perfect fabric and quilting choices. I have the DS plaid in a different colorway. I love that it's printed on the diagonal. Congratulations on another great finish.

    The different sashing gives it a very unusual setting - perfect for the variety of fabrics! I thought I recognised Leeanne's feathers!

      Hi Suz, I must say, it was a simple make with those big blocks.
      And with the assorted sashing sizes and the swopping out of fabrics in some of the blocks, it gives a real make- do utility look. You know, like... I ran out of fabric, but I substituted this, and this... and see... it all still works... kinda! Have a good week, L

    Lovely combination of colours. An unusual fabric for the binding which looks great, draws the eye to the quilt blocks. The quilting looks exquisite.
