a few quilty hugs for Hospice

It's that time of year again, time for me to think about donating a few quilts to Hospice. My daughter is a nurse at the Hospice in town, at College Hill, and they love receiving quilts. I understand the nurses have a bit of fun pairing up quilts with recipients.

I try to select a few quilts each year, ones that I've had here living with me for a bit, ones that I can part with happily. This morning I dug these ones out of the cupboard and popped them out on the line to air before sending them off with my daughter.

I just love a quilt stack, don't you?

Linking up these finished quilts {that have gone now to new homes #quiltyhugs}

Until next time,
Linda

  1. that's nice it is always nice to see a quilt on the bed at a hospice - when my mom was at one I made sure to bring the quilt from her bed that she loved.

  8. What a thoughtful way to move the older quilts you've made along. I loved having my own quilt when I was in the hospital and know these people will find your quilts even more meaningful.

    1. Thanks so much Ann. My daughter has been on at me for some time now to donate a few quilts, she says they are so loved & well used.
      My style is a bit bright & bold, but I’m hoping a little splash of colour over Christmas will go down a treat.
      And... {wink wink} ... it leaves me with more room for more making!

  11. I admire your daughter enormously for working for Hospice - it's a hard job and so much needed. We had help from Hospice during my dad's last weeks and their empathy and caring made it more endurable. Your bright beautiful quilts will be welcomed and loved!

    1. Thanks so much Marie. My style is a bit bright & bold, but I’m hoping a splash of colour over Christmas will go down a treat. Nothing nicer than a homemade quilt on the bed.
      I gave my daughter the little speech, you know, how "every quilt tells a story" and I'm hoping having this sort of different conversation happening with patients & their families could add a little break in an otherwise stressful time. Merry Christmas.
