'florabunda' {a WiP}

The days of July have just flown by, and it's still wet, and it's still windy here. I'm kinda happy when it rains though, nothing nicer than staying at home & sewing on these really yukky wintery days.
My time this weekend was divided between making up more blocks, and *cutting up more scraps, for making up more blocks. Loving these dense clusters of flower blocks - who knew I had so many floral fabrics in my stash!

 Simple shapes & random colour surprises,
like this block using a little bit of Kaffe, Liberty, 'wild & free' from maureen c and a solid . . .

Always interesting to check things out with a b&w pic . . .

and this is how it's looking in colour so far . . .

I stumbled across this quote on IG recently -
* "There's a great satisfaction in seeing a thing take shape and form under one's hands.
Especially if they are made from oddments into something worthwhile."

  1. Love the colours in the block in your second photo. Floribunda is the perfect name for this quilt too.

  3. You are obviously having a wonderful time rootling through your stash finding those lovely floribunda fabrics. The blocks look great - I've just popped it onto my Pinterest Scrap Quilts board for future reference. You make such lovely quilts, Linda.

  8. Such a pretty group of blocks! They look very cheery for a winter project! (Which feels strange to say when it is 97 degrees here!)

  10. I love the colours and the mix of patterns but what I also enjoyed this time was looking at all your centre squares and the way the placement of values can change the look of the block. Lovely work.

  11. Such a lovely quilt with a great mix of fabrics and colors. I like the way the diagonals and stars appear and disappear. The bird in the center of your first block is a delight.
