Loving adding little bits & pieces to my 'patchwork boho' quilt blocks
I finally feel my machine applique stitch is getting tidier
and am now trying out lots of new-to-me embroidery stitches to add some detail
to my floral collage blocks . . .
to my floral collage blocks . . .
Following a slightly wonky line in the fabric pattern
with a simple backstitch and some pretty varigated perle cotton . . .
Branching out a bit more with a line of sheaf stitches, great for stitching over a seam . . .
I'm using this book Boho Embroidery Projects-Traditional Stitches
from the library as my resource

- and Nichole's IG feed is full of lots of ideas I'm tempted to try too.

I need to get my threads out to do some embroidery stitches this week as well - I like those last pieces you show they add a nice touch
You know that using variegated thread begins the downward spiral into thread addiction!! Ask my sister and me, how we know. This is going to be lovely. Are you using the doily too?
Your embroidery looks like such fun. You might enjoy looking through Take a Stitch Tuesday, too, for inspiration:

(I've got a box full of embroidery threads that I should haul out and look at one of these days!)
you really look like you are having a fabulous time with this project.
it is going to be so lovely!! so inspiring to look at. thank you.Take care and Happy Sewing from Iowa
Such a fun project - and such a lot of patience! If you are aiming for a machine blanket stitch that blends, try a neutral beige thread in a lighter weight (100wt polyester is good) and try a smaller stitch width (2.5) and length (2). This also helps hide those "not quite so perfect" stitches that always seem to appear! And will help to highlight your lovely hand stitching.
Such a pretty project ! :)
Love watching this evolve -- such pretty colors and textures.
Julie just wrote what I thought. It's a treat to watch this grow under your hands. The embellishments bring out these soft colors.
So soft and pretty! Makes me think of ephemera.

This is such a fun project. Love the flower applique and the embroidery details. Happy stitching this week.
I like the embellishments you're adding! I bet it will make this quilt really interesting to look at with lots of fun texture.
What a fun way to try new stitches!
Beautiful embroidery Linda.
I've looked through that book, good ideas.
That's a fun project, color, appliqué, hand embroidery all together.
I have really enjoyed watching you play with this project.
Thanks for sharing your creativity with Oh Scrap!
Looks like it will be really soft and lovely! cheers!
Looking good. Love the fussy cutting you are doing with the applique shapes.
I just love srappy and I LOVE this dainty quilt. The fabrics are fabulous!
Love what you are doing! A whole quilt just of the floral collage would be awesome.
