Perfection not required.
This was a great stash-busting beauty to stitch up,
from "the mixing of bright clashy colours, the freedom of sewing without rules,
and the joy of keeping it simple".
Each large section is made up of 16 x 5" floral one-patch squares, in a wide assortment now of old & new from my fabric stash. Some one-patches are so loud they're screaming, others are boring, and some don't blend in at all....but hey, don't they all sing together....a bit like a glorious garden.
If you look closely you will spot the Jennifer Paganelli fabrics, along with some new AMH, and Amy Butler, Denyse Schmidt, Kaffe, and just a little Liberty. I've added in some geometric prints too and I'm cutting up every last bit of an old shirt from my late FinL, as I decided I need a couple of repeat fabrics scattered throughout to help with all this colourful chaos!
Once I'd sorted & cut up a selection of fabrics, I didn't fuss too much as I sewed them together. I've made up nine big blocks of bright clashy colour, this will make a smashing quilt backing or a small throw quilt, or maybe I'll keep going and add a few more rows. Anyways, I'm très happy.
I've also had a little on-line shopping activity too! It's Lockdown Day 72 here in Auckland NZ, and a few shopping necessities {wink wink} are essential in a lockdown life, yes?

I had a yummy parcel in the post a few weeks ago, a very pretty bundle of "Posy" by Annabel Wrigley @littlepincushionstudio. You all know how much I love colourful vintage and whimsical fabrics … this one hits all the buttons … and oh my … those florals!
Super keen to try out this pink & orange colour story. I plan on adding a random blue check, some blending solids, and lots of low volume background.
And I also splashed out on three of my all-time favourite Anna Maria fabrics too,
more bright floral colour . . .
I'm also busy on-line ordering Christmas goodies for the grandchildren,
as I don't expect we will be able to shop in person anytime soon.

I love how your little "splashy" quilt is coming together--no muss no fuss, right? All such beautiful florals--wonderful work hugs, Julierose
I love all of the prints together. A few splashy, a few calm, they all work together wonderfully. I love quilts made of all squares.
Love all that gorgeous colour. It is looking great.
Good luck with your on-line purchasing. We are having big problems here with postal deliveries. I am still waiting for parcels ordered at the start of the month from my own city! And the crazy part is that we open up tomorrow and can go to the shops to buy the exact same thing. Thought I was planning ahead but it turns out I was wrong.
I hope your postal service is handling things better than ours.
It's just a collection of fun from the bright fabrics and lovely florals to the big pieces of color and the simplicity of the design, It all works!!!
This is my favorite kind of quilt, simple and scrappy, and your fabrics are just amazing!
Once again I am oohing and ahhing over your fabulous fabrics! Very sweet to keep this one simple and let the fabrics shine.:)
Everything working well together beautifully!! Your mix of fabrics is delightful an a nice size at 5". A good idea to put a sparkle in Lockdown Linda!
Love your 16 patch blocks of colour and fun. Great flimsy! These scrappy quilts are my all time favourites.
Bright color, clashy color--my quilt. I love it
It's just a simple effort to piece quilt patches, isn't it? Such an easy, pleasant way to enjoy a variety of fabrics in a tried-and-true layout. I can see that you're enjoying yourself. Online shopping for grandies? Oh gosh, I haven't thought of doing that. Not sure I want to either. Might be that ours will just get cash this year.
Whatever are you calling clashy??? Imagine me asking this with hands on my hips, head tilted and mouth pursed slightly. These brights are my favorites and I'll happily take them :-D Clearly you love them too.
