- original vintage inspiration
I'm sure some of you will recognise what I was planning to do with these, years ago. Yep, the 'Penny Patch' quilt using an excellent tutorial by Rachel @stitchedincolor, inspired by that vintage quilt. I remember loving Rachel's "colour recipe" for a low-volume quilt with two main colours of aqua/teal with soft tangerine orange and one pop of coral red colour.
Jolene from blue elephant stitches has also made her 'double four patch' version of this too, "it's a simple pattern that is almost no fail". I love how she plays with value and has a wonderful scrappy vibe happening at the same time.
And, Hydeeann from splishsplashstash has a thoughtful post about fabric selection and placement of fabrics in Rachel's wonderful pattern.

Lots of bold color, this is going to be great. (and fun!)
Always great to get a WIP or UFO completed - this is going to look really pretty with all those colours.
I like that you put the smaller 4 patches in too.
That does look like a fun quilt.
These are sure to make a wonderful quilt!
Making a scrappy quilt is invigorating, isn't it? Yep, I'd be setting aside my current project to finish this one. It can't be ignored, and actually looks pretty simple to arrange and finish. I can vouch for how fantastic it feels to finish a UFO. I have three of them myself, but have been pushed by challenges to start new things.
I love this quilt pattern, and I love your fabrics, too. I recognize that yellow bkg rose print as an Anna Maria Horner design that I know is living in my own stash, waiting patiently to become a quilt.
How fun! Turquoise, orange and red, some delicious colors there!
That pattern is a classic, I'm going to enjoy watching your progress.
Happy to see you're working four patch blocks into this quilt, a lucky find!
What a lovely find. Looks like some lovely stitching ahead.
How fun to find an old, but easy project to complete. Pretty colour palette, Will you hand quilt this one? Lots of nice diagonal straight lines maybe.
This will be a delightful scrappy quilt. Good to have it on your design wall again and I hope you finish it soon. It will be snugglable.
Love these colors together! Looks pretty 'no-fail' to me.:)
Several years back, I had saved that same photo of the scrappy vintage quilt for inspiration! So fun to make these double 4-patch blocks! Really am enjoying your quilts!
