This latest WiP on the design wall is everything I love about a quilt, it's bright, it's happy, and I love that I am constantly dipping into my stash, very satisfying. I'm using a lot of different AM Parry fabrics that I've collected over the past few years - leftovers, favourites, and not-so-favourites. Sorting them by - you guessed it - colour value to create a scrappy quilt with structure.
The most versatile block - it would have to be the HST surely? I'm using a pattern that I've wanted to try out for ages now, it's a free one #outbackvaluequilt by Blair @wisecrafthandmade.
I noted that the pattern is constructed row by row, but I'm piecing these a block at a time. I’ve always enjoyed the rhythm of making repeat blocks. Then, if I spot a colour or fabric that is working really well, I’ll cut a few more. And if a fabric doesn’t seem to be working, I don’t already have a gazillion units cut.
My default is mad, multi-coloured large florals. So, I'm using these bright prints and mixing them up with lighter, 'not quite' low volume prints, inviting one to take a 2nd look.
I'm now about 1/2 way, and I'm starting to repeat combos that I really like, so there will be some semblance of continuity within the pattern. I'm also planning on sprinkling in a few more "blues" as blue has always been my go-to colour.

I'm linking up today's post with my two favourite linky parties, see R) side bar.
Until next time, Linda

I love this idea! I'm going to have to use up some fabric with this method. She's lovely, can't wait to see her finished, happy stitching!
You have a great variety of fabrics in those blocks! The HST is my favorite to work with, so many layouts, so much fun.
I do enjoy working with HSTs. So many options.
Looks like you are having fun with this one.
Lovely blocks, but boy-o... that's a lot of HRTs! They're not my favorite patch to piece because it's always likely my seams won't match. While I love HRTs, I don't use them unless each one is surrounded by a single patch - no seam matching! Keep enjoying making these!
As I'm quilting the last quilt in your recent bundle to me, I'm looking at your fabrics and thinking you have a colourful and interesting fabric stash, this current quilt is not exception.
This is wonderful, Linda. Isn't it amazing what value contrast can do in a quilt? And of course we all love your taste in fabric. If you started a subscription bundle program where I got billed for fabric automatically every month and whatever you picked out showed up in my mailbox to enrich my stash, I'd be in fabric heaven!
It's going to be such a beauty!
