Do you have old works-in-progress that you don’t love or blocks that you don’t want to make into anything? Well yes, of course we all do! Cynthia from quilting is more fun than housework is hosting an Orphan Adoption Event Saturday June 6, 2015. This is a one day event and everything must be given away for free.You can offer as much or as little as you wish, blocks, patterns, kits, anything that you hope someone else can use. A perfect chance to give away your unfinished projects to someone who will love them and make something from them, or maybe turn them into a quilt for charity.
I have two unfinished projects that I am abandoning. So, here we go with just a few easy details from me...
- Simply leave a comment, stating clearly which project you are interested in and the charity or person you'd like to make it for.

UNFINISHED PROJECT #1
He- he, I'm really not an applique kinda gal! Simple Pleasures is an old BOM with patterns & fabric for 12 applique flower blocks. Four blocks completed, by machine applique. (but can be either hand or machine applique) Border fabric & pattern also included.

UNFINISHED PROJECT #2
Pretty in Pastels... a quilt top in assorted Kaffe pastel fabrics, a couple of which are hard to find now. A sort of 'slice & shuffle' pattern, with repeat blocks rotated randomly. Inner stripey border finished size 5cms, outer floral border finished size 12cms. Quilt top only, finished size measuring 125 cms x 155 cms.

This is such a great idea, and these are generous projects you are putting up for donation. My daughter really likes the soft Kaffe florals, but I have never been one to have pinks or florals in my stash. If I received your Kaffe project I would re-purpose it to combine with some Kaffe blocks I have underway for her.
Your orphans would be put to good use in a few quilts for Project Linus. My sewing group does a fundraiser every year, and I do my own separately, to earn funds to support our quilting efforts for Linus, and any donations are quickly put to good use. Last year the dozen of us made over 200 quilts and blankets for Project Linus, and are on track this year to exceed that as long as we can get the materials! Your lovely blocks and flimsy would certainly be appreciated, and used.
I'd love to finish one of your quilt projects! I work at a nursing home where the residents love colorful quilts on their beds!

Your flower applique project would be perfect for one of my granddaughters. It is so bright and pretty! I am a newbie at quilting and am trying to make each of the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids a quilt. :)

I'd love to finish your project #2. I've just joined the local patchwork group and we are going to make some quilts for the Cancer Society. Would definitely brighten someone's day.
Wow, that's a couple of lovely things you're giving away! Project #1 would make a great donation quilt for a teenager. Wouldn't a teenage girl love to wrap up in that quilt? I would be very happy to finish it off and donate it.
Wonderfully generous giveaway Linda! These projects will make others very happy ! I just loved Cyndy's idea too, because yup - we all have orphaned projects. (PS: Don't add me in when you choose for the winners, as tempting as the projects are, because I'm giving away a project too.)
I would prefer the second offering. I know a young mother whose house was recently flooded out. I am making flannel quilts for her children, but think she could use a little TLC too.
I like pretty in pastels. Sew pretty. I would like to give it ti my niece.
I live it reminds me of an old fashioned quilt like one my grandmother used to call an ice cream quilt

Hi Linda, I've hesitated over throwing my hat in the ring, because there are many good causes here. I would like to offer Quilt #2 a home. I recently made a quilt for a young girl with FAS, who has been rescued from a "once were warriors" type situation. I'd like to offer her the woman who took her in a quilt too. Winning this flimsy would speed up the process a lot. Thanks for offering these quilts. By the way, I love your lone star quilt, go 80's fabrics!
I'd be willing to finish either of your projects. I have not done much applique so I need a project to get me started. I also have lots of older fabric that might make a good backing for your second project if I am chosen.
You have two awesome projects to give away and I think that if I were one of the lucky ones, I'd choose #2 because I love the soft pastels and this would make a sweet quilt for our Hospital Auxiliary and they can decide if they want to give it to a specific person or if they have something else in mind.
